Welcome to Version 1.0 of The Bunny Code! If you've spent more than ten minutes in internet forums or Yahoo Groups, you've probably noticed people with cryptic strings of letters and numbers in their signature line. There is a Geek Code, a Cat Code, and even a Rat Code! These "codes" are a way of indentifying like-minded people, and seeing at a glance who you're communicating with. This particular code is adapted from The Rat Code.

Planned revisions include a toy section, as well as type and colour modifiers.

=====================
Section 1: Your Bunnies
=====================

BC - Number of Bunnies
====================

Start with a capital BC for "Bunny Code" and add in parentheses the version number (This is version 1.1). Then write the code for the number of bunnies that you have:

Add a number for the number of males you own, followed by an m (m is for male). Then add a number for the number of females that you own, followed by an f (f is for female). Then add a number for how many bunnies you have owned that have passed away, followed by an r (r is for Rainbow Bridge). For example, someone with 4 male rabbits, 3 female rabbit and 1 rabbit that has died would put:

BC(v1.0) 4m3f1r

If you don't actually own any bunnies and never have, use the code BC!.

If you aren's sure of your bun's gender, use the code ? - as in, BC(v1.1) 2m1f1?.

Section 2: More about you
=======================

O - Other Pets
=============

Do you have any pets other than your beloved bunnies? This part of the code will provide a shorthand for what other pets you have.

Start with O. This section will be much like the abbreviation for how many bunnies you have. After the O, put down the number of each pet, followed by the abbreviation for the type of pet. For example, someone with one cat and three fish tanks would be:

O1c3t

Here are the abbreviations for each type of pet:

d: Dog

c: Cat

t: Tanks - Fish or Corals

s: Snake or Lizard

a: Amphibian

b: Bird

f: Ferret

r: Rodent (rats, guinea pigs, gerbils, etcetera)

e: Other Exotic (hedgehog, chinchilla, sugar glider, etcetera)

l: Livestock (horses, pigs, etcetera)

If you have no other pets, use the code O!.

If you have too many of one type of pet to count, feel free to use the code #, as in: #f.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OCBM: Business/management

OCCI: Construction industry

OCCT: Computers/information technology

OCE: Engineering

OCET: Education/teaching

OCW: Web Design or Graphics

OCAT: Jack of all trades.

OCU: Undecided (students, children, etc)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a - Age
=======

Your age (in human years). If you want to be exact, you can use your age after the a (Ex: If you're 30, you would use a30.) Or, you can use the codified version:

a++++: 60+ years

a+++: 50-59 years

a++: 40-49

a+: 30-39

a: 20-29

a-: 10-19

a--: Under 10 years

a#: Mind your own business!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you get all that? For the sake of illustration, here is my Bunny Code:

BC(v1.1) 2m1f1?2r B-- R- C+ D++ F N+ S-- O2d4c16r4t OCWa+

I have two male rabbits, one female rabbit, one that I'm not sure of yet, and two that have died. I have no plans to breed them, I belong to a couple of clubs, my bunnies get pellets and hay and fresh greens, are let out of their enclosures when I can supervise, and I have quite a few stuffed bunnies and other paraphenalia. I have been to one show (poor bunnies!). I also have two dogs, four cats, 16 rats, and 4 aquariums (1 goldfish tank, 3 saltwater reefs). I do freelance web design and I am 35 years old. See how handy the code is? :)
